Kathleen Gyssels is Professor of Francophone Postcolonial Literature and Culture at Antwerp University, where she teaches classes on authors from the African and Jewish diasporas. Her publications are principally concerned with African American, Caribbean and Francophone authors and subjects from a broad, comparative perspective. Her current research has extended her reach to include conflictual issues, such as the Memory Laws and the Memory Wars in the French Republic and postcolonial countries. In recent publications, for example, she has tackled the resurgence of antisemitism in the Caribbean and its echoes in both literature and criticism. Her expertise in African American literature and arts, Jewish and African diasporas and the Caribbean, has allowed her to work as an external examiner for the Universities of Mauritius (2011-2014) and Pretoria (2017). She has been a keynote speaker on several occasions at conferences focusing on literature in French, English and Dutch. Her language ability also includes a working knowledge of Spanish. She is Coordinator of the Research Group for Postcolonial Literature at the University of Antwerp and an Associate Member of the Institute for Jewish Studies. K.G est professeure de littératures et de cultures de l'aire francophone et postcoloniale à L'université d'Anvers, où elle enseigne des auteurs de la diaspora noire et juive. Ses publications portent sur des corpus africains américains, caribéens, ainsi que la francophonie, dans une perspective comparatiste. Sa recherche s'est récemment étendue aux Lois mémorielles et à des problématiques délicates comme la guerre des mémoires, spécialement aux Antilles francophones. En effet, elle a abordé des relents d'antisémitisme chez certains prosateurs et essayistes. Son multilinguisme lui a permis d'être External Examiner pour des universités (U de Maurice, de Pretoria). Elle est la coordinatrice d'un groupe de recherche en littératures postcolonales à Anvers et membre associée de l'Institut d'Etudes Juives.

Kathleen Gyssels es profesora de literatura y cultura poscolonial francófona en la Universidad de Amberes, donde imparte clases sobre autores de las diásporas africana y judía. Sus publicaciones se refieren principalmente a autores y temas afroamericanos, caribeños y francófonos desde una perspectiva amplia y comparativa. Su investigación actual incluye cuestiones conflictivas, como las Leyes de la Memoria y las Guerras de la Memoria en la República Francesa y los países poscoloniales. En publicaciones recientes, por ejemplo, ha abordado el tema del resurgimiento del antisemitismo en el Caribe y sus ecos en la literatura y la crítica. Su experiencia en literatura y artes afroamericanas, las diásporas judía y africana y el Caribe, le ha permitido trabajar como examinadora externa para las Universidades de Mauricio (2011-2014) y Pretoria (2017). Ha sido conferencista principal en varias ocasiones en conferencias centradas en literaturas en francés, inglés y neerlandés. Su habilidad lingüística también incluye un conocimiento práctico del español. Es coordinadora del grupo de investigación de literatura poscolonial de la Universidad de Amberes y miembro asociado del Institute for Jewish Studies.
